Week 10 - The prom I never had

This is my text picture. If you can't read it it says on the bottom "the dress i would have worn to prom" and on the side it says to continue the topic " I would have worn the pink dress in the color blue" I took a picture of thses dresses at the store and wanted to add text to them to tell the story how if I had been able to have gone to my prom when I was in high school I would have worn the pink dress but in that pretty baby blue color.

Week 10- Clone Stamp

The above picture is the original and the picture below is my clone edited version. I cloned my cats toy mouse. I also had to darken the carpet a little to blend it better. I tried the best i could to blend it well. I think it looks ok for the most part...

Week 9- Filters

The photo below is untouched and the photo above I used the sharpen edges filter. I played around with the different types of filters for a bit before I decided I liked this one. I also darkened him a little bit with the dodge and burn tools that we learned. This has been a lot of fun... This is Lincoln. He got his name because he was born on Abe Lincoln's birthday. He's my friends cat. He's wicked chill and he loves to sleep.

Week 9 - Dodge and Burn

The above picture is the original without adding the dodge and burn. This is my friend Jake. He plays the drums and is very good. He has been in many bands including his dads band "Intercept". The photo below is edited. I darkened the background behind him to make it so that he stood out more in the photo. I lightened the drum and the cymbals and his face and arms. I also lightened the drumsticks a bit. I like how it makes it look kinda like he is glowing in a way. Plus, now you can see his arm whereas before the editing you couldn't really see where it is because it blended in.

Photoshop wk-8 Color & Light Adjustments

So the above picture is the picture I chose for my second picture. This is actually a very old picture of me with a musician of a band that I really like. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to have met a person that I look up to. I have met many people I thought I would never meet but I was proved otherwise and I'm thankful for that. His name is Jason (Jay) James and he is very nice and wicked funny.

This is my PS version of the same picture. I had to modify this thing A LOT to make it look like this. I played around with a bunch of the tools to see what it would do. I know we are only on color and stuff but I couldn't help myself. This program is getting to be so much fun now that I'm getting the hang of it. I added exposure, brightness and contrast, levels, then more brightness and contrast, and then hue/saturation, and vibrance and then more exposure. So there was a few different things I did to this photo to make it look like this. I also had to resize the picture quite a bit. It was at about 150 px's and then I changed it to 400 I believe. I was trying to make the picture a little bit bigger but after doing that I noticed that it made the photo blurry. I didn't know what to do from there.... Looks ok though.

This is my photoshop version of the same picture. (as seen below) I changed the contrast and brightness. I messed around with the colors big time. I kept tweaking with the tools and trying to learn what each of them do while figuring out how to get this photo blue without his skin deep red or orange. It took me a bit to get it but I think it came out really good in the end. For the most part this is what I was going for. I also messed with the hue and saturation. That did the finishing touch. Just what I intened to do.

This is my original picture that I took with the lights from the spot light on the stage without using flash or anything. I did zoom in quite a bit when taking the photo. This is a picture of my favorite singer in the world. His name is Phil and he is good!

Photoshop wk- 7

So this is my first photoshop experiance ever. I kinda made my picture really small. Sorry as I said it's my first experiance. I liked messing with my pictures in ways I never knew I could. This is a picture I had to edit a lot. I cropped, and cut and messed with the color. I like the lighting from the spot lights though. I hightened it a little to make it look a little more intence. I took this picture in a dark show room. This is what I like to do in my free time. I actually have a lot of pictures I have taken at show's like this. It's of bands I know most of you have probably never heard of. I wasn't allowed to use my flash in this place so I'm surprised that my pictures I have came out as good as they did. The floor as they call it, is full of "metal-heads" aka- a bunch of crazy cool people who like to listen to heavy music and just have a good time. There was a band on stage but you can't really see them in this photo. I do however, have some awesome pictures of the bands that came out great that I will be using at a later date. The little picture I put in the right top corner as my layer on top is a sign of the festival on the outside of the building. They have these festivals every year in the spring in the city of Worcester, MA at a very old building that don't even have blueprints (as I've heard) it's called the Palladium. Pretty cool heh :)

Landscapes slideshow on way to NC

So I decided to use my picture's I took while riding down to North Carolina. There were many different picture's I missed out on due to the weather in the city area and what not but I got some really nice shot's of the sun and the southern sky the more south we went. In the beginning i used the kids and pets setting on my camera which is the best way to get motion shot's. Don't think they came out to bad. Then the later and clearer it got I tried using the landscapes setting. I think I didn't do to bad considering how fast we were going on the interstate and the windows were dirty and rolled-up. My favorite is the one of the sun setting over the horizon on the interstate where you can see all the cars on the road. There is just something about the way that photo came out to me that just screamed beauty! The taillights were on so i wanna say it was about 6-7pm or so down there. It was really cool to just watch the rain and the wintry mix vanish and the sunlight appear. It was nice to see no snow for the little bit that I did. I mean, I was sick so I didn't get to spend much time outside. I didn't do to well on that last picture but it was because we were going to fast for it to come out good I still like the colors of the clouds though. lol

I plan to start taking more picture's of outside when I'm back to full health so I will be adding to the landscape pics because I want to add some from my home land right here in VT.

Week 5- Slideshow

Week 5- Assignment 2- Rule of thirds

The above picture is the one that follows the "rule of thirds" out of these two photo's. I like how the couch is at that angle but I have this thing about things being centered so out of the two photo's I'd have to say I like the centered one (below) better. Plus it gives it the kind of home like story with the way it's set up with the couch being set between the windows and the little tables placed in front.

Week 5- Composition and Aesthetics in Photography

There were many sites I did my research on for photography composition and aesthetics. They all had a lot of different ways to put all of the same information, however, there was this one person Alex Yu that caught my eye. The information that he talked about was very helpful in learning things I did not know about photography and the way certain philosophers viewed it as. It's interesting how he put that and I quote him " a picture that is an amusement for one person may be art to another" I loved that. It reminded me about the times when I would go to an art museum and see something I personally liked that other people would think looked funny or weird and didn't see the beauty in the creation.

Week 4 - Lighting(top) & color(bottom)

Now I know we only needed to post 3 but I just had to show 4. In the above one here it was also taken at 7 pm but believe it or not I turned off the lights and set my camera to night snapshot and used the flash. The iso in this one was set to 250. Can you see a difference in the two?

The one above here was taken at 7 pm and I used the same settings so it looks the same for the most part except this one looks a little bit darker and somewhat clearer then the one below.

The above picture here was taken a minute after the one below with the same settings except I used the flash for this one.

The above picture was taking with the iso at 200 and set on auto at 1 pm. I liked how the light from the window is hitting it the way that it is. The flash wasn't used in this shot. It makes it so half of the photo is darker then the other.

This is a monochrome picture I took while we were driving over the Washington Bridge in New York. It was about 12pm or so. It was raining as you can see the rain drops on the window. It looked really cool. The timing was perfect too how I got the center of the land and river.

Week 3 - Macro

Hey dad, i miss you so...where did u go? It seems like forever sense you've been gone!

So this is in the center of my macro collage. I'm not sure if i did that all right but i tried. I couldn't really think of anything that i wanted to take pictures of. I mean i tried different things but would prefer to save my nature pics and such for later dates. I went around my bedroom looking at stuff that to me told a story. This picture is of a picture in a frame that i got right after he passed. The little cube with the rose in it is actually from my mom but i have it in front of my dads pic. The stone is one of those healing stones(i have many of those). I can't really say either as to why i picked this one. It just stood out. I love the set up i have with the frame and the cube and stone. I'm really good when it comes to being creative with the placement of things.

I don't Know what it was about this picture that caught my eye. I think it's just so pretty from that angle. I love how the shadow is being cast off the ceiling. This is one of the 2 fake black and purple roses that I get every year now sense my dad has been gone. It's become a tradition that I made for him that on his anniversary every year I make it a point to get one. It's in October too so it's not hard to find a rose like that with halloween at the end of the month.

My Macro Collage

My bedroom has lots of beautiful little trinkets and such. Thought it would be perfect for this.

The meaning behind this is that of a sentimental value. I lost my dad in 2006 and most of the things in this collage remind me of him for reasons that are to long and complicated to explain. Even though he may not be here in the present time he is still with me in memory, mind, heart and soul.

Week 2 Compare -n- Contrast

This is my kitten...Isn't she so cute. Talk about perfect timing!

I love taking picture's of animals. I thought that she would be perfect as my first subject. I think that she is one of the most beautiful cats I have ever seen cuz she is rare. She is part wild cat.

When I took this pic it was all about timing. I saw the opportunity and jumped for my camera which was all ready for me to use. I quickly decided to take a bunch of picture's of her. In this one it looks like she is getting ready to roar or growl. It's kinda funny to me because I see her as a little blessing even though she can sometimes get herself into trouble. She was born in the beginning of August which would make her a Leo. I gave her the name Arielle because it means Leo(Lion) or Lioness of the Gods. Not to mention it's just a beautiful name. *Smiles wide* Look at her colors and the way that she is half and half. It's in a way very unique. I've just never seen a cat like her before. Her mother was rescued by the Claremont Animal Shelter. There are 8 others like her out there in this world that of which are her brothers and sisters.




In this second picture she is sitting pretty. I wonder what she was thinking... Notice that her eyes if you look closely have been affected by the flash. One is glowing green and the other looks dark. It looks kinda cool in a way like 2 sides/2 personalities. The darker eye looks wider then the lighter eye. I think she squinted when the flash went off. This photo is also kinda blurry compared to the one i took above. I'd say out of the 2 I like the first one more. These were both taken in auto. I do have photo's that I have taken with other features but I have not posted any here yet. I will be doing that in the weeks to come.



I have some really nice pictures on my DeviantArt profile page that I used different features to take the photo's. They are only a start to what I'm going to be shooting. From this point on I am going to start carrying my camera with me every trip small or big I take...even shopping.... I saw an owl in Keene NH the other day while shopping just sitting on the wire in front of Auto Zone. I was so disappointed that I couldn't get some really nice one's of it. I only had my camera which is on my phone and they didn't come out so well.

I'm really new to this blogging thing. I have a lot of trouble understanding things. It takes me a while to get the meaning behind things. I guess you could say I learn everything the hard way.
I love taking pictures and I'm really good with a camera. Look forward to learning in my photography class so I can advance and become that great artist I know I have the potential to become.
